Ah ha! You see, it's not just me, or us. If there's someone - or something to chase, I maintain it's a ride-ological imperative to participate in the game.
I chased down a rider last Friday who was clearly struggling in a gear much too tall, in a stiff headwind, on a bike not fit to them. They slowed to a crawl to wobble through the train gate and I passed them on the other side. It didn't matter that she was pushing the high side of seventy, I still greeted her with an "In Your Face!!" as I sailed by.

I know this doesn't follow your current topic, but I had to share anyway. I found a rabbit yesterday. I chased it, passed it...and became the rabbit. Then he chased me but failed to pass.
I have to admit, I thought the concept of chasing down a rabbit was a bit absurd..."I'm just out for exercise, it's not a competition for me" tuned into "I gotta catch and pass that guy". I don't know what came over me, but it was fun (mostly because I succeeded).
